ABOUT ME
Hi! I'm Hanne (pronounced "Hannah"). I'm a PhD candidate in Organizational Behavior at Harvard Business School. My research examines effective listening. In particular, I study the conversational behaviors that ensure people are both being and feeling heard in order to foster interpersonal connection. I am passionate about improving conversations at work and in life by leveraging rigorous scientific methods and cutting edge tools. I use a combination of experiments and computational social science techniques, including natural language processing.
My work has been published in premier academic outlets including Psychological Science, Proceedings of the National Academy of Science, and Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes. It has also been covered by major news outlets such as NPR, Time Magazine and the L.A. Times. I am Canadian and completed my B.A. with Honors in Psychology from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. I spend my spare time cooking good food, hiking in the woods, paddling in the ocean, and snuggling my cat! I also try to live the values that inspire my research by volunteering with Crisis Text Line, a free mental health texting service that uses human connection to help people navigate their hardest moments. |
